Frequently Asked Questions

You asked, we answered.

What are Biosolids and Digestates?

Biosolids are a nutrient-rich compost by-product of wastewater treatment and digestates are organic-based wastes which have gone through a fermentation process in an anaerobic digester.

Do I have to be in organics to order?

No, we have a selection of compost products to suit all farms.

Is it approved for spreading on farmland?

Yes, nutrient management plans are submitted to the local authority for approval before land spreading takes place.

How is it delivered to the site?

It is delivered with articulated trucks, skip trucks and tractors.

How is it spread?

90% of what we deliver is spread with a dung spreader, and the other 10% is spread with a dribble bar.

How many tons would you spread per acre?

Anywhere from 3 tons or 1200 gallons upwards depending on soil results.

Is there an odour?

Yes, similar to slurry. If managed in the correct manner odour can be reduced to a minimum.

Can I spread on silage ground?

Yes, it's suitable for most crops.

How soon can stock graze the land after spreading?

The code of good practices states 3-6 weeks.

Will I need any other fertiliser?

In most cases, the use of chemical fertiliser can be eliminated.

Are there heavy metals in it?

Heavy metals are in all organic-based manures (pig and cattle slurry, etc.) which is why we test your soil before application to ensure we do not breach limits.
